Professor Dr. Merle Tränkner is junior professor for “Applied Plant Nutrition” at IAPN and at the Department of Crop Sciences of the University of Göttingen since 2017. In addition to research and teaching, her professorship includes heading the scientific working group at IAPN. Focal points of her research are magnesium nutrition, photoprotection and water-use efficiency.
You can also find more information about Merle Tränkner and her team on the web pages of the Division of Applied Plant Nutrition.
Before joining IAPN in 2018, Dr. Paulo Cabrita worked on the application and development of remote sensing methods to monitor and determine morphological and physiological parameters both on test trials as well as at field level in forests and crops. He obtained his PhD in plant physiology in 2011 at the Justus Liebig University Giessen.
Paulo Cabrita is involved in the following projects:
Setareh Jamali Jaghdani , PhD student, finished her Master’s studies at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in the Division of Plant Pathology and Crop Protection at the University of Göttingen in 2017. In 2013, she did her Bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering – horticulture at the University of Tehran. She is conducting the PhD project Capacity and efficiency of photosynthesis and photoprotective mechanisms under magnesium deficiency in crop plants.
PhD student Tingting Liu has completed her Master’s studies in 2018 at the Institute of Soil and Water Conservation at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, located in Shanxi Province in China. In 2015, she did her Bachelor of Science in agricultural resources and environment at Henan Agricultural University, China. Her PhD project is entitled Effects of magnesium status on photosynthetic efficiency and water-use efficiency in wheat suffering from drought.
