Teaching

The junior professorship for "Applied Plant Nutrition" at IAPN and at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Göttingen is currently vacant. The column “Teaching” of our website provides information on the activities of our former Junior Professor Dr. Merle Tränkner and her team.

IAPN courses: research-based, application-oriented and with a global perspective

One of our most important tasks is to offer students a good education in nutrition and physiology of plants. In addition to traditional lectures IAPN also offers practical trainings, which connect university teaching with topical research and practice. This allows students to understand the global issues of plant nutrition, early on during their studies. Due to the active involvement of the IAPN research staff in the design and the implementation of teaching activities, new methods and research results are directly incorporated by lectures and in practical training. more

Learning by research: Experiencing plant nutrition and plant physiology

Insight into teaching practice at IAPN is offered by a report on the Bachelor course “Plant Nutrition meets Plant Physiology – Experimental Work at the Intersection of these Disciplines”. The module is aimed at students of agricultural sciences with focus on “Crop Sciences”. more

Field trip on plant nutrition research and fertilization

Beside teaching at the lecture hall and the greenhouse, IAPN scientists offer interesting insights into plant physiology and nutrition research on the field and on field trips. In June 2019 for example, Prof. Dr. Klaus Dittert led an excursion to research projects in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. About 30 students took part. Jun. Prof. Dr. Merle Tränkner as well as Dr. Paulo Cabrita joined for explaining about an IAPN field trial. more

Semester works and degree theses

Students may produce their degree theses at IAPN. Students interested in this option are invited to contact our scientific staff. An overview of previous Bachelor’s and Master’s theses shows examples of the extensive breadth of projects completed at IAPN. more
