Dr. Setareh Jamali Jaghdani

Dr. Setareh Jamali Jaghdani promovierte in der Zeit von Januar 2018 bis Juli 2021 erfolgreich am IAPN und war anschließend bis Ende April 2022 als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an unserem Institut beschäftigt.

 

Ihr Promotionsprojekt trug den englischen Titel “Magnesium deficiency induced responses in crop physiology: impacts on photosynthesis, light utilization, and photoprotection“. Untersucht wurde der Einfluss von Magnesiummangel auf die Funktionsfähigkeit der Photosysteme und die photosynthetische Effizienz. Ergänzend untersuchte Setareh Jamali Jaghdani die Rolle von photoprotektiven Strategien, wie beispielsweise nicht-photochemisches Quenchen (NPQ) und die Detoxifikation von freien Sauerstoffradikalen (ROS). Studien der Pflanzenphysiologie wurden mit molekularen Techniken kombiniert, um biochemische Veränderungen in Blättern unter Magnesiummangel zu zeigen. Die in-vivo eingesetzten Methoden umfassten Messungen des Blattgaswechsels und der Chlorophyllfluoreszenz. Die in-vitro-Untersuchungen beinhalteten die Quantifizierung der Pigmente, die in den Xanthophyll-Kreislauf eingebunden sind, und die Analyse der Expression von Genen, die mit Enzymen in Verbindung stehen, die für die ROS-Detoxifikation verantwortlich sind, mittels qPCR.

Das Promotionsvorhaben wurde durch die K+S Minerals and Agriculture GmbH finanziert. Betreut wurde es von Juniorprofessorin Dr. Merle Tränkner.

Setareh Jamali Jaghdani schloss 2017 ihr Masterstudium an der Göttinger Fakultät für Agrarwissenschaften in der Abteilung Allgemeine Pflanzenpathologie und Pflanzenschutz erfolgreich ab. An der Universität Teheran hatte sie 2013 ihren Bachelor in Agricultural Engineering-Horticulture erworben.
