- Joint Meetings during the International Year of Soil

Raising awareness of the importance of soils as a basis of life for plants and for animals, and the promotion of a more sustainable and efficient use of resources were at the focus of two annual conferences on agricultural sciences, both held mid-September 2015 at the University of Göttingen. more

- IAPN Team at the K+S Merkers Adventure Mines

On 2 August 2015 the IAPN team visited the K+S Adventure Mines at Merkers, Thuringia, to get an up-close look at underground potassium extraction. They had been invited by K+S KALI GmbH and had an exciting journey down to a depth of 800 meters. more

- Insights into Brazilian agriculture

Regions with widespread magnesium weaknesses in soils have been identified in Brazil. On the verge of the Second International Symposium on Magnesium in São Paulo, Brazil, early November 2014, IAPN talked to Brazilian scientists about the current situation of magnesium nutrition in crop plants. more

- Junior Professor Mehmet Senbayram takes on new challenges

As of 1 August, 2015, Prof. Mehmet Senbayram, thus far Junior Professor at the IAPN, will take on a professorship at the Institute for Plant Nutrition and Soil Science at Harran University in Sanliurfa, Turkey. The intended communication between the IAPN and this institution will strengthen the IAPN’s international network. more

- IAPN in dialogue with weather expert Falk Böttcher

On 25 June, 2015 Falk Böttcher from the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD, “German Meteorological Service”) visited IAPN. He described changes in the past and projected hydrological data and discussed their consequences for agriculture with participants at the event. more

- Without Potassium Sunflowers Catch Cold

On 17 January 2015 the 2nd Night of Knowledge was held on the Göttingen campus. The Institute of Applied Plant Nutrition joined in and provided exciting insights into its scientific work. more
