Dr. Juliane Dao

Dr. Juliane Dao worked as a research assistant at the IAPN between August and October 2018. She was responsible for teaching in the field of applied plant nutrition and held the lecture "Plant Nutrition Meets Plant Physiology" in cooperation with Juniorprofessor Dr. Merle Tränkner in the Bachelor's degree program of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Göttingen.

She accompanied the students in their seminars and final theses, as well as supervised scientific work at the IAPN, which dealed not only with the basics of plant nutrition, but also with the nutrient-specific reactions of plant physiology.

Her scientific focus is on water-use efficiency and the effects of salt stress on crops.

She graduated in January 2018 at the University of Kassel in the framework of the Urban FoodPlus project with the thesis titled "Effects of water quality on soil properties and crops in urban gardens of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso". In focus of her research was the impact of sodium-rich industrial wastewater used for irrigation on maize and spinach under semi-arid conditions.

Juliane Dao completed her bachelor's degree in "Agroecology" at the University of Rostock in 2008 and graduated her master's degree in "Sustainable International Agriculture" at the University of Göttingen and the University of Kassel in 2013.
