- New scientist at IAPN

Setareh Jamali Jaghdani started her Ph.D. studies at the IAPN in January, 2018. The studies with a scheduled duration of three years are supervised by Junior Professor Merle Tränkner and funded by the K+S KALI GmbH.

During her Ph.D. research project entitled “Capacity and efficiency of photosynthesis and photoprotective mechanisms under magnesium deficiency in crop plants – linking plant physiology with plant genomic and proteomic reactions“, the impact of magnesium deficiency on the photosystem functionality and photosynthetic efficiency will be investigated. Furthermore, it includes studies on the concurrent role of photoprotective strategies such as formation of non-photochemical quenching (NPQ), detoxification of reactive oxygen species and chloroplast movement and ultrastructure.

Setareh Jamali Jaghdani has successfully completed her master’s studies at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in the Division of Plant Pathology and Plant Protection at the University of Göttingen in 2017. In 2013 she did her Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering-Horticulture at the University of Tehran.
